I still remember my Delhi Zoological Park experience during my childhood days and the only thing I remember is through one of the picture we have in our album, where I am in a white frock with some big glares, I am glad my dad finally managed to find that zoo picture of mine to show you guys.
Let’s now talk about my recent visit to Delhi Zoo, which happened in Dec 2017. Before sharing my experience, let me be honest with you guys that I was in so much dilemma to either put this post on my blog or not however I then finally decided to post it, so here it is….
As we all grow up no one feels like or ever think of visiting a zoo and especially if you are staying in the same city then you don’t find this place worth spending your time. And then when you have kids and they start growing then these are the places which come in your mind where your child can enjoy.
So here my matku “Nithya” who will be turning 2 in February is in her quick learning phase, so I thought of taking her to places once in a week or twice in a month where she can also enjoy and learn new things.
One fine Sunday I was sitting along with my mom, having tea and snacks when my mom said that one of my old friends Sonu is in India with her little angel. I and Sonu are childhood friends and my mom and her mom have known each other since our birth. And now we both have baby girls so we thought it’s enough of experiencing zoo at home so let’s take them to our real Zoological Park of Delhi.
We left around 1:00pm though we decided to leave by 12:00pm. I am sure who have little ones at home can very well relate to the delay in timings 😜 It was Monday, a weekday so it didn’t take much time for me to reach at the destination.
We didn’t know that they won’t allow us to take any food items inside instead of baby’s milk and a packet of biscuit. But thankfully we read the board outside, and heard the announcement as well, while parking.
Parking is paid and it’s Rs.20/- Delhi Zoo remains closed on every Friday and on National Holidays. In summers the Zoo timings are from 9:00am- 4:30pm and in winters the Zoo timings are from 9:30am- 4:00pm. While entering the zoo there is an entry fee of Rs.40per person, for children height under 3ft its free else it’s Rs.20 per head and for senior citizen (60 yrs and above) its Rs.20per person. You can even avail wheel chair for physically challenged at free of cost and Encase you are carrying luggage you can even take cloak room at Rs.1/per piece of luggage.
These days Government has really been managing Swach Bharat Abhiyan well. As the place looks quite neat and clean and everywhere you will find garbage bins. However the washrooms are still disappointing as there was no water inside, if someone has to use the loo for some longer duration (you know what I mean) then please check the water supply first.
Now let’s talk about the birds and the animals we encountered inside the zoo, these days they have a facility of hop on hop off conveyance which is for Rs.65/- per head we started our journey by foot but later we thought of opting for hop on hop off conveyance as we had kids along and their belongings too, moreover we reached there by 2:00 pm so we didn’t have much time to complete the journey inside.
We managed to complete some of the major cages including Bear, Bengal Tiger, White Tiger, Peacocks, Leopard, Hippopotamus and Gibbons. Out of which the best view we got was from the Bengal Tiger. I managed to make so many videos and pictures of it.
Animals and mammals were only mentioned on the board but wasn’t present in the cages may be they were bunking. Anywise we got our excitement back after seeing the Bengal Tiger as it’s walk, it’s roar was a treat to watch and that too with such closeness that at first go you may get scared. We managed to get the glance of White Tiger and Leopard too which was also a treat to watch.
Lately we had our snacks at India Gate which is just 10mins run from Delhi Zoo. And we also witnessed the evening lighting’s at Rashtrapati Bhawan. If you haven’t experienced it yet, then guys please do. Trust me you will get some great pictures there.
We didn’t manage to get many pictures as we were quite busy in witnessing the view with our kids.
That’s it from my end for Delhi Zoo, here is short teaser video too don’t forget to view it and subscribe to my channel on Youtube.
Hope you loved reading & watching it. If yes then please comment below and do share it ahead.
